fitness > running around regents park

Working a double shift at the bar, means you get a two hour break between 4 and 6 pm. Seemed like a bit of a waste of time to me. So again, (thinking it was a good idea at the time) I headed out a few times to run around Regents Park which was just around the corner from my work. The park is absolutely huge and it certainly beats running around the streets.  But again came the time to close the bar at the end of the night and I was leaning on any piece of furniture I could find to take the weight off my feet!

I have to be some sort of crazy to keep doing this to myself. There’s a legitimate reason why you should stay off your feet for the two hour break!

fitness > running to work

London, U.K.

After I started working at the bar, I tried so hard to go for a run a few times a week. But with the demands of being on your feet all day, I just couldn’t cope running that often. In the end I managed to run about once a week. I thought it would be a good idea to do what I like best about exercise and that’s combining exercise with a method of getting from A to B. Instead of paying 2 quid to get on the tube, I ran into wok, from Fulham to Soho. It was about 6km which is a nice distance. Except you're kind of stopping every 100m for traffic, which sucks. Running around the crowded streets of London makes you realise how beautiful Australia is. I miss running along the coast in Perth, or the beach in Noosa for example.

Another problem was that the pub didn’t have showers, so I had to settle for a shower in a can. I didn't notice but I was probably a bit smelly. Running to work seemed like such an excellent idea at the time, but by the end of the night, my feet were absolutely killing me. Working in hospitality and running just don’t go together, which is crap coz I really like both and running is a great winter sport. I guess I will have to wait until I can snowboard every day in Canada then!
